While stopping by the PureAudioProject room at the California Audio Show tihis year, we took some photos of the Whammerdyne Ultimate “Truth” integrated amplifier on static display.
This 2A3 amplifier, powered by one of the most beloved vacuum tubes ever, generate 4.2 watts RMS (peak 12.5 watts).
You need a high-efficiency speaker to best mate with these amps – but then again high-efficiency speakers sound better anyway [more realistic dynamics and more space, dynamically, between notes, among other things], so we all have these kinds of speakers anyway right?
Loaded question – we for the most part don’t because the industry rarely builds high-efficiency speakers – too hard I guess :-P.
